This king sized platform bed with six storage drawers turned out beautifully. The wood has been carefully antiqued and stained a dark chocolate tone. It features raised panels with beaded openings, a molding at the floor, and rounded corners with a cove detail that highlights the grain pattern in the Sassafras wood. All of the edges have been eased and softened to prevent bruised shins- some modern platform beds can be mildly dangerous with the exposed sharp corners. The client chose oil rubbed bronze 4” pulls which look perfect with the color of the bed. There are inserts for a couple of the drawers to provide smaller storage nooks in top of the deep storage spaces.

We recently made a queen bed with a very similar design for my son’s apartment… One work of advice when making a piece of furniture as big as this… Measure the path that must take to get it into the house… It is now in my guest room!
I absolutely LOVE this! Do you ship to Texas? If so, how much would you charge to make another one? (King size also…with the giant drawers!). After reading the comment above I am a little nervous about buying something preassembled since all of our bedrooms are upstairs…would there be an easier way to move this bad boy around? by the way…i came to visit these pics again, and wanted to add…no worries about it fitting in the room…Adam cleverly constructed it to be modular, and assembled it right in our bedroom for us – if we ever want to move it, we just disassemble and heave ho!
