Here are the custom maple crib and changing table in our client’s nursery in Brooklyn. The drawers (two under the crib and four in the changing table) and door (hides a trash or laundry bin or clothes shelf) each got a matching shaker-style wood knob. The finish is shellac protected with beeswax (cut with mineral oil). The touch of amber in the shellac warmed up the Maple and will be safe for the little one. The design for this crib was somewhat based on the shape of this crib (Louis Netto collection) that we found on a neat Brooklyn-based kid oriented design blog, Minor Details. The client wanted a natural wood tone and we added storage drawers. I’ll let you in on a little secret here: the price for custom furniture is often comparable to high-end stock furniture. The result is better because is it hand made to your specifications. We stand behind our work and deliver it to your location.
